"A train went by here! You can see it's tracks!" The 3 day weekend is over and today I have to head back to the salt mine for 4 days. The countdown to the next 3 day weekend begins. My camera's battery is charged and ready to find that special Kodak moment of the week. I guess you call this routine. Planning on taking a trip to the Pass for the weekend coming up again. It is always nice to get away to a different world for a bit. If you don't do something really different now and then, you end up in a rut going down the same "track".

I was thinking yesterday about having to head back to Calgary and then today having to head back to work. Would it not be nice to travel around in an Rv where you are home wherever you are at and there is no having to head back to home? I think that it would be nice to have a home base in this area and then one down south in Arizona or Florida for the winters.

We took a walk around in the town of Coleman as the sun had just set. And we would be driving back to Calgary in the dark of the night. It is always so nice to get away to the Pass. It is like being in another world down here.

Motoring down hwy 3 west from Blairmore to Coleman. The Crowsnest mtn is in view. We went to look at homes for sale in the area with my stepdaughter and her fiancee who wanted to have a home of their own.

I drove up towards the set of traffic lights looking at this weird thing on the road in the left turn lane. It looked almost like a cat with it's back to me although the top was rounded. It was an owl of all things! It took off as I pulled around it. Very strange to see that!

On the way home, this fellow blocked my path. I was giving him a quiet whistle to let him know that i was there and he started to move off to the left. That is the oval dark circle you see in the photo. I have seen him several times around this corner so he must live nearby. So far, so good, as i was within 15 ft of him on the first encounter. I will try and get a better photo on the next encounter, but will not try and get too close either!

In the beginning of the day as i walked home from work only a few blocks away from this scenic overlook, there was a foul odor in the air. I whistled a bit here and there to alert the cat in the two piece suit that i was nearby. I walked up the hill further up the road and there was another odor so there were more than one skunk about. As i neared the top, i decided to go further up the hill and not turn just yet to check out the area better with the parked cars there. Sure enough, on the road beside the parked cars was a BIG skunk who went under one car to be out of sight. Well, i watched closely and he wasn't moving away so i walked on the other side of the road and then around the two parked cars and then on into the apartment. He was still under the car although i could not see him, i watched that he did not exit from either side of those two cars. Not as a close encounter as the last time i startled one digging in the garbage and was within 15 ft of him! Whew!

Is this train coming or going? Could the photograph be reversed to confuse you? Life can sure be like that sometimes. Too much noise to filter out what you need to hear. Confusing signals. Have you ever hiked a path that was not well marked? Sometimes one path would meet another and you would be standing looking at both paths trying to figure out which is the right one to take. In some cases, we can only try a path to see where it leads and if not where we want to go, then we backtrack and take the other path.

Is it the price of gas that makes them so cheap or are they junk? Hmmmm... Rv show is next weekend so perhaps it is time to take a closer look. Since there were no road trips, major ones, since 2004, i think that it is time to consider one, but a long one this time to make up for the lack of them!

The 4 day weekend is over and now it is time to return to work! Oh well, on with the New Year! Trying to take a fresh look at setting up goals and trying to figure out just where life will take me in this new year. Today is the first day of the rest of your life as the saying goes. But on the other side of the coin, being in the middle makes it hard to make a decision as you are neither right or left. And that i found to be very true. There is nothing like having a Dolly to help with the work. It is like having a third person. It would have been nice to have had a crane to move the heavy items, but oh well, we did get it eventually completed.

Nice cold minus 30 temperatures til Wednesday here... sure looks very cold here today! Off today to take more salon photos and to get more video to make a DVD.

Smile! It is - 40 C with the windchill factor here! BRRRRR!!! If the car starts, it is to church and then to make a hairstyling video! On with the day, but first i get some shut eye!
